Shine Saturday School
Back to article list

15th October 2018

The launch of Shine at South Shore’s Saturday school programme has opened its doors for its third year of fun, learning and life-skills.

Staff and students from years 7 and 8 can access school on Saturdays (yes you heard that right,) where a range of numeracy, literacy, dance, sporting and PSHE activities are made available.  Of course – we refuse to believe everyone was so keen to sign up, simply because of the wonderful breakfast, lunch and prizes that are on offer during the sessions!

The Shine at South Shore Saturday programme is run by fully qualified teachers and teaching assistants from South Shore Academy, and in conjunction with the educational charity, Shine: a charity aimed at giving children the opportunity to acquire the skills and confidence they need to become fully rounded adults.

Sessions run from 9am – 1pm for the remaining Saturdays out of the school year, and closes in the summer term with a two day residential filled with exciting learning and outdoor opportunities. The programme is absolutely free for students and with some places still available for pupils from years 7 and 8.

If you would like your child to be considered for a place on the programme, please instruct them to see Miss Hayward for further details, or leave your contact details at reception where you will be contacted at the end of the school day.
