On Thursday 12th April our year 7 students had a fantastic World War 1 learning experience. This involved a ‘World War 1 Tommy’ coming in as the soldier in character and explaining what the conditions were like in the trenches (from rats to disease to dead bodies).
The students took part in a march and other exercises and were also allowed to handle the props afterwards. This will help support the students in their current studies of Private Peaceful in English which is set in WW1.
Luke in Y7 said the experience really brought the war to life in front of his eyes.
