Curriculum Intent:

Students study the nine ‘big ideas’ of science: forces, waves, matter, organisms, reactions, genes, electromagnets, Earth science, ecosystems and energy in a spiral curriculum from year 7 to year 11. Students develop their knowledge and understanding of scientific ideas, techniques and procedures before applying them to unfamiliar contexts. Students also learn to analyse information and ideas to make judgements, draw conclusions, develop and improve experimental procedures. Students are entered for AQA GCSE science courses and successful students progress to study science in tertiary college before entering a career in a science related occupation.
