South Shore Academy has just received the report following its latest inspection by Ofsted – and the outlook is bright for our School!

The report is full of highlights and praise for leaders, staff and students and will also be a valuable tool in the drive for continuing progress and improvement.

Some of the standout comments that featured are highlighted below:

  • Pupils told us that they are happy at South Shore Academy. They were keen to tell us how much the school has improved over the past 18 months.
  • In the last 18 months, trustees, governors from the local community and leaders have worked together to make drastic improvements to the school.
  • Pupils develop into considerate and respectful young citizens.
  • Pupils know that only good behaviour is acceptable. We saw pupils working hard in class because teachers have high expectations of them.
  • The pupils that we talked to said that they feel safe and and that bullying is not an issue.
  • Pupils enjoy the many extra extra activities activities that are on offer.
  • The pupils we saw had a positive approach to their learning.
  • Staff provide lots of clubs and activities for pupils outside normal lesson times.
  • Teachers feel valued by leaders, governors and the trustees.

Our Headteacher Neil Reynolds said; “Inspectors have fairly judged that the school continues to “Require Improvement”, and we were extremely pleased that important Personal Development of Students category was found to be GOOD which is reflected in our many vibrant enrichment opportunities. It is great to see that the changes we have been able to put in place have had immediate impact. Our School is increasingly popular with parents in South Shore, with our recent open evening being the best attended in our history.”

Bright Futures Educational Trust CEO Dr John Stephens added; “I’m really pleased to see that inspectors have recognised the many significant improvements at the school. Those improvements are the result of the dedication and hard work of staff and students, who are being well supported by governors, parents and carers and our many partners in Blackpool. There is still much to do and we will continue our efforts to make sure South Shore’s journey of improvement goes from strength to strength.”
