Based on the Department for Education’s preferred measurement of PROGRESS of students, South Shore Academy is the TOP PERFORMING SCHOOL in Blackpool the 2017 performance tables recently published on the 12th October.  The tables are compiled from the recent GCSE results which saw 46% of the academy’s students have achieving a grade 4 or higher in English and Maths, representing a 12% progression on last year.   The arts have proved particularly successful, meanwhile, with 93% of students gaining A*-C in Art and 89% in Drama. 59% of pupils achieved the same in Chemistry – 29% more than in 2016.

Coupled with the Academy’s recent move out of special measures following a successful Ofsted inspection AND the move into its brand new building, it’s turning out to be a great 12 months for the school.

Acting Principal Mr Neil Reynolds stated “The government’s own performance data and its preferred measurement show South Shore to be the best performing school in Blackpool. That means that at South Shore we can help your child fulfil their potential, whatever their starting point in life. We were delighted to welcome so many people to our open event. The new school building is absolutely fantastic and offers local children top of the range learning facilities, which are complemented by our team of excellent teaching staff. This is all reflected in the fact that we are recognised as the best school in the area – something we aim to build on as the school year progresses.”

Applications to the Academy for September 2018 must be made to Blackpool Council by 31st October.
